System Requirements
Tevyr runs entirely in your web browser — no apps to download, no plugins to install. If your device can open a modern browser, it can run Tevyr.
Supported Browsers
| Browser | Minimum Version |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome | Version 101 or higher |
| Mozilla Firefox | Version 100 or higher |
| Apple Safari | Version 15.5 or higher (macOS and iOS) |
| Microsoft Edge | Version 101 or higher |
| Other browsers | Any Chromium-based browser (Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, etc.) should work |
Internet Explorer is not supported. If you're on a corporate network that defaults to IE, please switch to Edge, Chrome, or Firefox.
Hardware
- Laptops and desktops — Any modern laptop or desktop from the last 10 years. Works on Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS.
- Tablets — iPad, Android tablets, and Surface devices all work great for both controlling and displaying timers.
- Phones — Modern iPhones and Android phones work for the controller, Q&A submission, and polling pages.
- Smart TVs and media players — Many smart TVs with built-in browsers, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV (via AirPlay), and Chromecast can display Tevyr screens.
- Raspberry Pi — Works on Raspberry Pi with Chromium browser — a popular choice for permanent confidence monitor setups at venues.
Network Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Connection | Any internet connection — WiFi, ethernet, or mobile data. Works reliably on event WiFi, conference networks, and mobile hotspots. |
| Bandwidth | Extremely low — typically just a few megabytes for an entire event. Tevyr transmits small timing events (start and end timestamps), not continuous video or audio data, so it won't compete for bandwidth with other devices on your network. |
| Latency | Updates sync across all devices in under 150ms on typical connections. Even on high-latency networks, timers remain accurate because devices synchronize start and end timestamps rather than continuously streaming the countdown. |
| Connection drops | If your connection drops briefly, running timers continue counting locally on each device. When the connection is restored, Tevyr automatically reconnects and syncs any actions that happened while you were offline. A subtle status indicator appears during extended disconnections. |
Firewalls & Corporate Networks
If you're on a corporate or venue network with a firewall, make sure the following are allowed:
- HTTPS (port 443) — Standard secure web traffic. Required for loading the Tevyr interface.
- WebSocket connections (WSS) — Used for real-time synchronization between devices. Most modern firewalls allow this by default since it runs over the same port as HTTPS.
If you're running an event at a venue with strict network restrictions, test Tevyr on the venue's WiFi before the event day. If WebSocket connections are blocked, mobile data (4G/5G) on a phone hotspot is a reliable fallback.
iOS App
In addition to the web version, Tevyr offers a native iOS app for iPhone and iPad. The app includes all the same controller features as the web version, optimized for touch.
| Platform | iOS 17 or higher (iPhone and iPad) |
| Download | Available on the App Store |
| Sync | The iOS app and web version stay perfectly in sync. You can control your event from either one — or both at the same time. |
